This complaint in my opinion summarizes how many owners feel after buying a Drees Custom Home
In my opinion YOU ARE MAKING A BIG MISTAKE; DON’T DO IT! Considering the cost of a Drees Home, I recommend taking 5 minutes to read the complaints, negative reviews, and other information on this website from owners disgusted with their Drees Custom Home.
Why This Website Exists
- An undersized A/C system
- An improperly installed dehumidifier
- Mold appearing on interior walls
- Mold behind the walls (according to my in-laws mold expert)
IN MY OPINION, DO NOT BUY A DREES CUSTOM HOME!
My Family Sure Regrets Buying One
Mold Discovery Documentation
Based on my in-laws’ mold expert’s investigation, the Matterport image below shows all the locations where mold was discovered in my in-laws’ home, according to the expert’s opinion:
IN MY OPINION, THIS AI VIDEO REPRESENTS THE QUALITY OF A DREES CUSTOM HOME:
Kitchen Vent Exhaust Defects
The text below is from Cody Laird’s inspection report with H5 Climate Consulting LLC, a subcontractor Drees sent to inspect the defects in my in-laws’ home. The text relates to the kitchen vent exhaust ducting. This is how Drees Homes delivered the house at closing!
Inspection Finding
Kitchen vent exhaust ducting inspection image
Inspector's Notes
“Kitchen vent exhaust pipe is larger than the pipe penetrating the roof. This is resulting in a difficult opportunity to seal pipe correctly. The vent pipe size needs to be consistent from vent fan to exterior termination.”
Cody Laird discovered that the pipe penetrating the roof was smaller than the kitchen vent exhaust pipe, creating a gap between the two pipes allowing hot air and insects to enter the exhaust vent pipe.
IN MY OPINION, THIS IS THE AWFUL QUALITY OF DREES WORKMANSHIP.
In my OPINION, the photographic and video evidence below shows what happened to the kitchen vent hood because of Drees and its subcontractor’s incompetence:

In My Opinion, Drees Homes Values Money Over the Health of YOUR Children!
According to other Drees homeowners, these families bought a Drees Home in Texas that, in their opinion, also became infested with mold due to poor-quality construction and builder negligence. In one owner’s opinion, the mold caused their daughter to suffer terrible allergic reactions. In the other owner’s opinion, mold also caused his son to suffer terrible allergic reactions and nose bleeds. Here are two videos and one photo showing, in the owner’s opinion, their child’s reaction to the mold in their Drees Home:
How awful to hear that little girl’s terrible anguish and see the torment on her face, which in her family’s opinion, is caused by allergies due to mold in their Drees Home. And how does Drees Homes feel about this child’s terrible suffering in my opinion? In my opinion, Drees Homes is laughing all the way to the bank at the expense of trusting homebuyers and their children whom Drees Homes has betrayed. If you are thinking of buying a Drees Home, read the complaints on this website and heed the others warnings, because, in my opinion, the next family to suffer illness from mold exposure due to Drees Homes construction negligence could be yours.
Who Are Members of the Drees Homes Family?
Ralph Drees was David Drees’s father. David Drees married Karen Drees and they have three children: Paige Drees, Scottie Drees, and Alexa Drees Walker (formerly Alexa Drees). David Drees has a younger sister, Barbara Drees Jones, who reportedly runs the Drees Foundation. Alexa Drees Walker reportedly oversees the Drees Midwest Design Centers. Scottie Drees, or Scott Drees, is the division president of Drees Town Homes.
Let’s explore some statements by David Drees. According to David Drees, “I don’t know what I would be doing that would make more of a impact on people’s lives, that would make such a difference. I love what I do.” Well, in my opinion, Drees Homes certainly made a big impact on the life of the little girl seen crying and scratching in the video due to mold in her family’s home, in her family’s opinion. In my opinion, almost nothing impacts people’s lives more than a homebuilder taking a trusting homebuyer’s money, delivering a home with construction defects, an undersized HVAC system, and mold, and then betraying the homebuyer by refusing to accept responsibility for the negligent construction and poor workmanship. In my opinion, three words describe Drees Homes management: GREEDY, DISHONEST, and BETRAYAL.
When David Drees was asked how he feels “about managing this mega-company?” His response was, “Proud,” adding, “It’s an awesome responsibility. I guess I didn’t screw it up.” Actually David, if you read the voluminous Drees homeowner complaints reposted on this website and watch the video of the little girl miserably scratching and crying due to mold that is infesting her family’s Drees home, in her family’s opinion, you did screw it up! In my opinion, run from Drees Homes as fast as you can and never look back.
Ask yourself, do you think David Drees, Karen Drees, Paige Drees, Scottie Drees, and Alexa Drees Walker, grew up in a mold-infested home, scratching and crying, or do you think they grew up in a huge house free of mold living like royalty off other families’ hard-earned money? Let David Drees know you are disgusted with how Drees Homes treats children and its homeowner’s who have mold in their homes and that you will never buy a Drees Home. Send David Drees an email at ddrees@dreeshomes.com.

Below are screenshots from a TikTok account belonging to a Drees homeowner who protested against Drees at one of it’s model home’s.
How did Drees respond to the homeowner’s protest, in my opinion? As stated in the police officer’s “Event Notes Addendum” posted on the homeowner’s public TikTok account and shown below, “Jason which works for Drees Homes” subcontracted a private investigator, Mr. Lopez, who “advised he was solely only hired by the hour to follow (the homeowner) and document his findings. Lopez did state he was entering (the homeowner’s) gated subdivision and parking by (the homeowner’s) house.”
In my opinion, how shady and morally bankrupt must a homebuilder be to hire a private investigator to harass and intimidate one of its own homeowners? In my opinion, why would anyone having this knowledge ever buy a Drees Home? In my opinion, Ralph Drees would be ashamed of what has happened to Drees Homes.
The Drees homeowner also reports that while the private investigator was surveilling him, his overhead garage door would randomly open during early morning hours. According to the Drees homeowner, the surveillance stopped after the police questioned the private investigator. What’s really interesting is that, according to the Drees homeowner, the overhead garage door stopped randomly opening by itself when the private investigator stopped conducting surveillance. Is this just a weird coincidence? While I have an opinion, I will let you make your own decision. In my opinion, DON’T BUY A DREES HOME!
Statements of Incompetence, In My Opinion, By Drees Management
In response to the homeowner’s protest at the Meridiana model home, Drees Homes created and distributed a flyer to prospective buyers. Let’s review a few of the ridiculous comments Drees management stated in the flyer.
- Drees Custom Homes, LP has been in the business of constructing single-family, residential homes for 97 years.
- Drees has constructed about 150 homes in the Meridiana community.
- Of those 150 homes, only a select few owners have submitted post-closing warranty claims to Drees relating to mold concerns.
In my opinion, Drees’s statement shows a complete lack of business morals. What if YOU are one of the select few owners who spent $500,000 or more to buy a Drees Home that becomes infested with mold? Should a homeowner who, in my opinion, was duped into buying a Drees Home that became infested with mold be happy about their purchase because only a “select few owners” also purchased a poorly constructed home with mold? In my opinion, a company that has built residential homes for 97 years should have ZERO homes with mold.
